My thoughts: This is a traditional classic American steak house restaurant that is been around the Santa Clara area after many changes on this location. This location is a great spot but some of its predecessor didn't survive. Hope this steak house can survive the up and down of the restaurant world. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (3 Point) - Nice decoration with upgraded modern fashion. Nice and clean 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are perfect. 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Steak they serve is pretty close to most of the standard steak house and more. Not bad! Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 19 Stars = 76% round up to 4 stars

Headed over to Prime 109 because our first go-to was booked solid and was requiring a 2+ hour wait!! Pictures on Yelped seemed very promising but upon entering, the lack of patrons left me a little scared. To no surprise, our party of 4 were immediately seated. The menu is pretty small and focuses primarily on their signature steaks. Our meal consisted of: -Flat Bread Crackers & Cheese Dip -Calamari Frutta -World's Greatest Prime Rib [48oz] -Signature Prime Rib [16oz] -Bone-In Ribeye [20oz] -Shrimp Marinara -Garden Salad x2 -Caesar Salad -Creamy Bacon Potato Soup -Roasted Brussel Sprouts -Cabernet Mushrooms x2 Food was surprisingly really really good. The salads came out on chilled plates and the veggies were very fresh. The potato soup was flavorful and not too heavy when it came to the creaminess. Calamari was not overcooked while the dipping sauces and jalapeño slaw complimented the dish is so many different ways. Cuts of meat were semi-cooked as directed [the 48oz should have been more rare & the 16oz should have been a bit more cooked] but the flavors were spot on- no need for any A1 sauce here. The shrimp marinara was delicious- sauce had a nice tang. The only complaint was the shrimps being overcooked and the crispy breadsticks listed on the menu accompanying the dish was no where to be found. Prices are kind of in the steeper end but the portions are just as big. Everyone left with their own personal doggy bag and our belly's happy. Customer service was kind of disappointing but completely understandable because the gal seemed to be manning a good chunk of the restaurant which left her kind of MIA. 4 solid solid stars in total but it doesn't really make a difference since we found out this steakhouse is only opened for business for the rest of the weekend. Prime 109 has been sold and will be setting up shop as an Indian restaurant. Wish I had given this place a try a lot sooner. [[ WompWompWomp ]]

Been craving prime rib forever but never wanted to spend the money. I just feel rather guilty but last Friday I made reservations and there was no turning back - even though I was looking at alternative places to eat just in case because I like to have a backup plan. No reservations needed because the place was pretty empty on a Friday night. I was surprised but I earned some points for Open Table at least. I did call earlier during the day to confirm that they offer a kid's menu because I don't want to be that parent that brings her kid everywhere when they shouldn't. Arrived a little early. The person at the front was very unfriendly. There was no "hello" or "your server will be right w/ you".. nothing. Our server was super sweet and friendly, however. We ordered: - kid's prime rib sliders - frachos (nachos but made w/ waffle fries) - 28oz. prime rib, rare - side of macaroni and cheese w/ my prime rib - the prime rib came w/ a dude salad First off, the complimentary crackers and pimento cheese dip was a hit. Both Gavin and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't have to wait long before our appetizers came out. I was shocked w/ the portion size. After my first bite I was fairly in love w/ it. Gavin tried it and loved it, too. Together we actually finished this. The side salad came out. I never touched it. Our main course came out. Gavin's sliders looked dry but my prime rib came out rare. I read on Cherylynn's review that her prime rib came out medium... which I will have it sent back if they did because rare is the only way to enjoy prime rib. Not super tender but the au jus sauce and horseradish made this dish quite delectable. I took about 80% of it home. Thanks to our server for boxing everything up and giving me a full container of fresh au jus and horseradish. That became my dinner the next day! I forgot about the macaroni and cheese... generous portion and super cheesy and dense (of course, right?) but it should be eaten there when it is served. Do not take this home because it becomes greasy, the cheesy components disappeared after reheating it. Plenty of parking. Our server was great. Terrible hostess. In the end, Gavin learned how to do a toast. I have worked long and hard for many years and finally have the financial freedom to enjoy meals like this. I was very thankful and grateful. I like to dress up (Gavin dresses nice, too) at least twice a month and have actual date nights.

In the past few weeks, my feed has been flooded with youngins' doing the "Keke Challenge" ("ghost ride the whip" to us old folks). Although I'm SMH because it can be dangerous, it's absolutely hilarious. If I attempted the Keke Challenge...if I didn't break my ankle trying to get out of a moving car, I would end up like this guy: https://bit.ly/2v2CIPp. And for what - two minutes of internet fame what will cost me $100 co-pay for another ER visit? No, thanks. I rather spend that $100 for a nice steak dinner and cocktails which is exactly what I did over the weekend. As a side note, IF anyone I'm driving attempts to do this, I'm locking my car door and driving away. You can keke your booty to the nearest bus stop. After being disappointed with the prime rib at nearby Birk's last week, a redo was in order. I remember bookmarking Prime 109 Steak & Libation House when they opened in the beginning of the year but the mixed reviews kept me away. Most new restaurants are able to work out most of their kinks in 6 months so I thought I give them a shot. The dog friendly outdoor patio gave me an extra incentive to visit. After our dinner here, I understand why the reviews are so mixed and I agree with many of the reviews - overpriced and the food is a mixed bag. While perusing the menu, I started out with the Cucumber Gimlet ($16): https://bit.ly/2LNarUe. It was well-balanced, stiff, and very refreshing but at $16, it could have been presented in a nicer cocktail glass with a metal straw. For my second cocktail, our server, Sandra was kind enough to let me order from the happy hour menu (everyday 2 pm - 6 pm at the bar only) so I went with the The Skinny Raz (HH - $9, Regularly $14): https://bit.ly/2mChiVM. Name alone, I thought it was a reduced calorie and sugar cocktail but it was very sweet. While waiting for our appetizer, Sandra brought us Complimentary Crackers w/ a pimento cheese dip: https://bit.ly/2uMFV6C. I don't know if I was buzzed, hangry, or both but this was good. Our Fried Calamari w/ fried peppers, jalapeno kohlrabi slaw, tarragon tarter sauce, & zesty marinara ($18) arrived next: https://bit.ly/2JRz0NY. An overpriced no go. The calamari was overfried and/or fried in old oil. The batter was hard and dark (looked a lot darker in person than in the pic). My friend ordered Raw Oysters ($3): https://bit.ly/2NEbXso and said it was ok. Now for the main event...the reason why we visited Prime 109: The 48 oz. "World's Greatest Prime Rib" ($59): https://bit.ly/2uLnxLa. The gigantic slab of prime rib on the bone was uber tender, soft, and moist. There wasn't much of an herb crust but with the au jus and tableside grated fresh horseradish: https://bit.ly/2A6r1xb, it gave just the right amount of flavor. We asked for the rarest cut of prime rib which turned out more medium rare but it suited us just fine. While the prime rib isn't the "world's greatest", it was solid and you can't beat the value. We stuffed ourselves silly and still had prime rib leftovers. GET THIS! For sides, I ordered the Roasted Brussel Sprouts ($5) which was dry and bland: https://bit.ly/2NIit1j. Perhaps, if they added some bacon fat (or prime rib drippings), it would help. My friend ordered the Baked Potato ($5) that looked dry and undercooked. We skipped dessert...I'm not price sensitive but $15 for a slice of cheesecake?! Overall, the food was about a 3-3.5 but what brings this review to a solid 4 is the staff. Everyone I interacted with, over the phone and in person was enthusiastic and kind. When I called to ask if the outdoor patio was dog-friendly, the guy I spoke with told me they love dogs and to come right over. Sandra, our server was such a sweetheart. Without being intrusive, she was always there to make sure we were doing ok. She even asked if Tater Tot wanted anything to eat: https://bit.ly/2LhUb1o and offered a prime rib bone to him (I declined since cooked bones splinter and can cause pancreatitis). Food service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush so it was fine. Upscale, classy dining area with a more casual, contemporary outdoor patio (w/ heat lamps). Good for date night, family dinner, or business meal (located near business parks). Prime 109 is the only place that I can get a solid prime rib and dine with my dog in the patio so this will be my go to when I get the meeeaaat cravings! Suggestions to Management: (1) Kindly rethink pricing. Menu pricing seems inconsistent - items are either grossly overpriced or underpriced (no prices on website). For example, $14 waffle fries, $48 crab cakes, and $15 brownie while steakhouse sides are only $5?! (2) Consider getting new plates and stemware. The plates were very clunky and tacky looking. The calamari was served on a plate that could fit a 25 lb roast. The table next to us ordered soup which was big enough to fit their 5 year old in it. Also, cheapy plastic plates have no place at an upscale restaurant that can easily run $100 pp.

Not busy at all for a Friday night 7:30 dinner. We got last min reservations when we called around 5:30. When we got there, the place was like less than half full. We ordered a bunch of starters like calamari, French onion soup, sliders, and clams in wine sauce. All were delicious. We also got the prime rib which was $50 for 3lbs. We weren't able to finish the prime rib since we were kind of full from the starters. The prime rib was more like a steak. Seared on outside but it was tender and flavorful! Food came fast and service was decent. We did see a couple who sat down later after we did, got up and left when no one came to help them. But I can't take any stars off since we had good experience.
